Alexis was born in Saskatchewan. She attended school there until the family moved to Trinidad in the West Indies. From Trinidad, they moved to Singapore. Alexis completed high school in Saskatoon, Sask. It was in Trinidad that she discovered calligraphy. it was a core subject at the school that she attended. Calligraphy has been an important part of her life since age 8.
Alexis moved to Edmonton, Alberta and attended the University of Alberta. She received her B.Sc. and B.Ed. She still resides in Edmonton. After receiving her degrees, Alexis taught secondary sciences for fifteen years. While she was teaching, Alexis taught calligraphy and art classes at night and on weekends.
In 2009, Alexis applied to become a Marriage Commissioner. She was accepted and began her first five-year commission. She is still a practicing Marriage Commissioner today.
In 1985, Alexis married her husband, Gordon. It was an important year because she also registered Alexis Design as a sole proprietorship. She still accepts commissions.
Alexis currently lives in west Edmonton.
